IBI therapy - Intensive Behavioural Intervention for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

At YOUR HEALTH Wellness Centre, we offer Intensive Behavioural Intervention to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Halton-Peel area. All of our therapists all have training and experience working with children with ASD and special needs in a variety of different specialties, including education and special education, IBI therapy, psychology, physical rehabilitation and chiropractic care. The following services are offered to special needs clients in our clinic:

IBI sessions in one-on-one setting
ABLLS Assessments
Small group sessions for our children to help increase life and social skill training and generalization
Sensitization to medical examinations using IBI principles to facilitate future encounters with other healthcare professionals
Collaboration with existing gross motor programs to help provide tools for building social/physical skills which can be implemented in home based IBI programs or in physical education programs in the school
Modalities such as heat, cold, and Thumper (vibrating massage) to decrease pain, improve flexibility, and for sensory desensitization
Passive or active exercise to maintain or increase range of motion
Active or resistive exercise to increase muscle strength
Casting and use of orthotics for positioning or functional activity
Aerobic exercises to improve cardiovascular endurance

We offer one-on-one instruction in a positive environment whereby all the necessary educational materials and data collection are ready and customized to your child's needs. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for all our clients and to help facilitate parental involvement in transitioning skills to the home and community environments.

We are a group of committed IBI therapists who have come together to offer services to families of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our programs are designed to target multiple domains according to the ABLLS-R assessment. These domains include:

Play
Social development
Communication, including expressive and receptive language
School readiness
Reading
Fine motor skills
Gross motor development
Self-help skills

Using the ABLLS-R assessment and information gathered from you, the parent, the Senior Therapist will design an Individualized Educational Program for your child to be implemented during their one-on-one sessions with an IBI therapist.

Behaviour Analysis (ABA) by using discrete trial training, errorless and error correction procedures and positive reinforcement. Furthermore, we incorporate natural environment teaching (NET) and play therapy techniques wherever possible to help further facilitate learning. Data will be collected and reviewed on a consistent basis to ensure targets are progressing and continued success is achieved.

Should you require a Psychologist to overview the programming for funding purposes, we would gladly assist you in setting this up.

Our senior therapist or chiropractor may also suggest occasional visits outside of the clinic for consultation purposes to address any concerns the family may have in home, school, medical or dental environments. These visits can also be used to bridge generalization and ensure maintenance of newly learned target skills into the home and school environments.
