Autism and early intervention

Melody Hurtubise - Instructor Therapist, B.A.

A diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder often comes with a lot of questions. Early Intervention programs are designed to help answer some of those questions and improve your childŐs outcome. Some Early Intervention (EI) programs include Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Applied Behaviour Analysis, including Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI).

Early Intervention (EI) consists of providing the child and/or the families with services to help lessen the effects of the condition, through corrective or preventative treatments. Services can be centre-based, home-based, hospital-based or a combination of any or all of them. Intervention can include identifying, diagnosing, and treating a condition. These services can begin as early as birth until early school age, but it is recommended to start as early as possible for the best results. EI is effective in supporting the family, helping the childŐs development, and improving the quality of life for both the child and the family.

At YOUR HEALTH Wellness Centre, we offer IBI therapy, Chiropractic care, and Occupational and Physical therapies to children with autism. If you are interested in finding out more information about the Early Intervention treatments we offer, please contact us at 905.829.0724 or .
